Zucchiniboy - The Comic
My very own comic book. Full of wonderful characters and exciting adventure. Alright, it kind of sucks, It has more inside jokes than a hippopotamus, and it's not even fully done yet. But it is slowly being redrawn and coloured, and pretty much all of the inside jokes can be understood if you know something about a Sega Genesis game called: Zero Wing.
Zero Wing
Zero Wing is famous for the text displayed in its introduction, which was most unskillfully translated from Japanese to English. It read like this:
War was beginning.
Captain: What happen ?
Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's You !!
Cats: How are you gentlemen !!
Cats: All your base are belong to us.
Cats: You are on the way to destruction.
Captain: What you say !!
Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time.
Cats: HA HA HA HA ....
Captain: Take off every 'zig' !!
Captain: You know what you doing.
Captain: Move 'zig'.
Captain: For great justice.
And thus, an era of "All your base are belong to us." (AYBABTU for short) craze began. For more information on AYBABTU, click here!
History of Zucchiniboy
It all began one fateful day long ago, during a Youth Group event at my church. We were given a list and a zucchini, and told to measure how many zucchinis long each thing on the list was. My group christened the holder of the zucchini, "Zucchiniboy". Later on, at home, I drew a picture of a different sort of "Zucchiniboy".
Over the years, and after many doodles of various characters in my school notes, I had the idea to combine some of the coolest ones into some sort of comic. But nothing ever came of this until a few years later.
Wednesday. Fun Mountain waterslide park. Bag duty. I was working as counsellor at the Day Camp program that my church runs every summer. But instead of sliding down the slides with all the kids, I was stuck guarding the bags at our campsite. Being rather bored, and having nothing better to do, I decided to scribble out a few pages of a Zucchiniboy comic.
So that's how it all started. And depending on how much free time I have from now on, I should be finishing the final version of this comic, and designing the next. Hope you enjoy!
